1. Who we are
GardenMaths ("we", "us"), a project of DueRiva, publishes free garden calculators and guides at gardenmaths.com for readers in Australia and New Zealand. Contact: hello@gardenmaths.com. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (including the Australian Privacy Principles) and the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, and, for visitors from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR and UK GDPR.
2. What we do not collect
- There are no accounts, logins or sign-up forms.
- The dimensions, layers, prices and project names you type into the calculators are processed by JavaScript in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers.
- The Share feature encodes your project into the link itself. We do not store shared projects; anyone you give the link to can open it.
- We do not collect names, email addresses or payment details through the site. If you email us, we use your address only to reply.
3. Data stored on your device
The site stores one preference in your browser's local storage: your chosen light or dark theme. It is not a cookie, is never sent to us, and can be cleared through your browser settings.
4. Server logs
Like almost every website, the hosting provider that serves GardenMaths keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time) for security and performance. These logs are retained for a limited period by the hosting provider and are not used to identify individual visitors.
5. Advertising
GardenMaths is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies – including the DoubleClick cookie – to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, to measure ad performance and to prevent fraud.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of many third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info or youradchoices.com.au.
- Google's own description of how it uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Visitors from the EEA, UK and Switzerland are shown a consent message before any personalised advertising cookies are set, and can change their choice at any time through that message.
Advertising is visually separated from our content and does not influence what the calculators compute or what the guides recommend.
6. Analytics
We may use privacy-focused, aggregated analytics to understand which pages are used and whether the calculators work on different devices. Where we use Google Analytics, IP addresses are anonymised and the data is used only in aggregate. No analytics data is combined with information that could identify you.
7. Fonts and libraries
Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and the 3D viewer library from the jsDelivr content delivery network. When your browser fetches these files, those providers receive your IP address and browser details as part of the request, as with any file loaded from a CDN. Neither provider sets cookies for these requests.

9. Children
The site is intended for adults planning garden projects and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Overseas disclosure
The advertising, analytics, hosting and CDN providers named above may process data on servers outside Australia and New Zealand, including in the United States. Each is bound by its own privacy policy and, where applicable, by standard contractual safeguards.
11. Your rights
Because we hold essentially no personal information about visitors, there is normally nothing to access or correct. If you have emailed us, you may ask us to delete that correspondence. Australian residents may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) and New Zealand residents to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz) if they believe we have not handled their information properly; we would ask you to contact us first so we can resolve it.
12. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with an updated date. Material changes – for example adding a new category of data collection – will be noted at the top of the page for at least 30 days.
